Episode 31 – Cutting and Sawing part 1

This is the first of probably three episodes talking about cutting and sawing. The main topics are saw set, and the number of teeth per inch on saw blades and the width of the saw cut, or saw kerf created by the saw blade.

Binding of the saw blade is discussed and the reason for the set or bending of the saw teeth.

A Plywood blade for a circular saw.

Notice on the above picture that the blade is “hollow ground”  This makes the blade a little less thick than the teeth of the blade.

This is a close up view of the carbide tips on a circular saw blade.  Note the carbide “chunks” are a little larger than the thickness of the blade material.
