Episode 26 Introduction to DC Electricity

I am switching gears a little today and I am going to talk about DC electricity.  It is an important subject to understand how things work and to modify or build things.  Small scale solar power is something I should be considering here for a power back-up and that is all based upon DC electricity.

This introduction is very general but will introduce you to the terms Voltage, Current (Amps) and Watts (Electrical power).  An analogy is used comparing these to water flowing through a pipe.  A circuit is explained as well as insulators, conductors and switches.

The direction of the current flow is also discussed.

One final note that was not discussed in the audio.  One of the differences between water flow and electrical flow.  A valve is opened to allow flow of water.   A switch is closed to allow flow of electricity.
