When designing a project, often the same things are used over and over. It is good to have these available for easy insertion into a drawing. These are called blocks in CAD and can be thought of similar to “rubber stamps”. These are helpful, but some planning and thought must be done before using them. In this video I show how to create blocks and some of the “got-chas” related to layers in blocks.

In future videos I will show how to use the blocks in other drawings as well as how to install them in your parts library.

Two very important things to be remembered are:
First,  draw all the parts full scale.  That is so when the parts are imported into drawings all are scaled the same.

Second, put a marker with the parts to show where the insertion point is located.
